SIG P226 and its Variants

SIG P226 is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by the Swiss company SIG Sauer. This pistol was originally developed in the 1980s for a competition to become the new service pistol for the United States military. Although it did not win, it became popular among police and military units worldwide due to its reliability, accuracy, and ergonomic design. P226 is available in several calibers, most commonly 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG.
The SIG P228, also known as the M11, eventually made it into the US military arsenal as a more compact version of the P226. Its main differences are a shorter barrel and frame, which facilitate concealed carry.
The US Navy requested a modified version of the original SIG P226, designated as the SIG P226 MK25. This model includes some improvements over the standard P226, such as a special corrosion-resis..
