Assault rifle M14 and its history

The M14 rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that was introduced into the US Army in 1959. It evolved from the design of the previous M1 Garand rifle to meet the requirements for greater firepower and automatic fire. The M14 is chambered in 7.62×51 mm NATO and is known for its accuracy and reliability.
The M14 was used in the Vietnam War, where it proved to have good long-range shooting capabilities. However, its weight and strong recoil were considered disadvantages compared to the emerging assault rifles.
In 1964, the M14 was gradually replaced by the M16, but it remained in service with some units as a sniper and ceremonial weapon. Due to its accuracy and durability, the M14 is still popular among civilian shooters and collectors.
Noteworthy is its shorter variant, the M14 Socom, or the sniper DMR rifle <..
