Airsoft Bazaar is committed to bringing buyers and sellers together in a safe and responsible manner. Payment requests with buyer protection are part of that. With buyer protection the buyer pays through Airsoft Bazaar and the money is held safely until the item has been received. The seller knows for sure the payment was made and the buyer runs no risk.
How does buyer protection work?
- Agreement in the chat. Buyer and seller agree on the price and the shipping costs. The seller creates a payment request in the chat, or the buyer makes a proposal that the seller accepts. Payment requests can only be used for listings on Airsoft Bazaar.
- Buyer pays. The buyer agrees to the terms and pays through Airsoft Bazaar. The money is transferred to an intermediary account managed by our payment partner Stripe, a payment service provider licensed by the Dutch central bank (De Nederlandsche Bank). The amount is held and not paid out yet.
- Seller ships. As soon as the payment is confirmed, the seller ships the item and shares the tracking code in the chat. Never ship before the payment is confirmed. When shipping with a carrier, sharing the shipping confirmation or tracking code in the chat is mandatory.
- Release. The buyer releases the amount with I have received the item in the purchase overview. If the buyer does not respond, the amount is released to the seller automatically 10 working days after payment. The seller receives the money in their account within a few working days.
- Something wrong? Then the buyer can start a dispute before the automatic release. The payout is paused and buyer and seller agree on a (partial) refund in the chat. Read How do disputes work in the chat?
In the chat, View details always shows the current overview of the purchase: the amounts, the timeline and the date of the automatic release.
What does buyer protection cost?
The buyer pays a € 2.00 service fee per purchase plus a percentage of buyer protection over the item amount and the shipping costs. The percentage depends on the buyer's type of account: the standard percentage is 7.5%, with a Plus or Pro account it is 6%. Buyer protection is free for the seller: the seller receives the full item amount and the shipping costs.
Example calculation
- The item costs € 100.00.
- 7.5% of € 100.00 is € 7.50, plus € 2.00 service fee. In total € 9.50 in costs.
- The buyer pays € 100.00 + € 9.50 = € 109.50.
- The seller receives € 100.00.
You always see the exact amount in the payment request before you pay. The buyer protection and the service fee are not refunded in case of a refund.
Good to know
- A payment request can only be accepted once the seller has completed their payout details. This is done once, through the chat.
- A chat with an active payment request cannot be deleted or archived. Complete the payment request first.
