Practice without picking up BBs

A target trap is a box with a net or a sloped back that stops the BB and drops it into a tray, so you can shoot in the garage or garden without finding plastic in the lawn for months. Most traps take standard paper targets on the front; some come with a mini BB catcher for pistols. Reactive targets give you something to see: steel spinners flip when hit, knock-down plates fall and reset with a string, and sticky gel targets hold the BB where it lands so you can read your group. Electronic targets count hits and time your drills.

What to practise

Set a trap at 10 metres and shoot five-shot groups to zero a red dot or scope; then move to 25 or 30 metres and adjust the hop-up until the heavier BB flies flat. Knock-downs at pistol distance train your draw from the holster and your reloads. Ten minutes a week keeps a gas pistol cycled and its seals fresh.

Safety at home

Even at home, wear eye protection, place the trap against a solid wall, keep the muzzle away from windows and neighbours and check your local rules on shooting an airsoft gun on private property, which differ across Europe. Targets are unrestricted products.
