Airsoft Masks & Face Protection

An airsoft mask keeps your teeth and cheeks out of the game. Full-face masks with rated lenses, mesh lower-face guards that pair with goggles, and designs that fit under a helmet.

Full-face or lower-face mask?

A full-face airsoft mask combines a rated lens with a shell that covers the cheeks, mouth and chin in one unit. It is the simplest safe option, especially for beginners and juniors, and the lens is usually EN 166 certified. The downside is heat and the cheek weld on a rifle stock. A lower-face mask, in steel mesh or padded fabric, protects the mouth and jaw and leaves the eyes to a separate pair of goggles; this combination is what most experienced players wear because it fits a helmet and lets you aim naturally.

Mesh, fabric and fit

Steel mesh stops BBs, breathes and never fogs, but it is rigid and a hard hit can push it into your face; look for a padded edge. Fabric masks with a foam or plastic insert are lighter and quieter. Many lower-face masks attach to helmet rails or to the goggle strap so they sit still when you run. The size filter helps with smaller faces; a mask that leaves a gap under the chin or beside the nose is doing half a job. Vents that direct your breath away from the lens are worth paying for.

Fitting it into your kit

Masks go with headwear such as a balaclava to cover the neck and ears, and black or camo colours match your loadout. Masks are unrestricted and the second item, after goggles, every new player needs.
