ZK-104An automatic electric gun (AEG) uses a battery-driven gearbox to compress a spring and send each BB down the barrel. It is the most common type of airsoft rifle for good reason: consistent performance in any weather, cheap ammunition and a huge aftermarket. The M4 / AR-15 family has the widest choice of parts and accessories; the AK is rugged and feels different in the hand; HK416, G36, SCAR and AUG replicas appeal to players building a specific loadout. Shorter carbines are easier to handle in buildings, while a longer barrel helps at outdoor sites.
Gearbox version (V2 for M4 and most Western designs, V3 for AK and G36) determines which upgrade parts fit. Look at the rail system (Picatinny, M-LOK or KeyMod) to make sure your optics and grips will mount, and at the battery connector, usually Tamiya or Deans, to match the batteries you own. Muzzle velocity is shown in fps with 0.20 g BBs; the energy filter helps you stay within the limit of your site and country. Gas blowback rifles (GBBR) and HPA versions sit in this category too, so use the propulsion filter to separate them.
Rifles are sold to adults (18+) only. In the UK a realistic imitation firearm requires a defence such as UKARA registration; two-tone rifles can be bought without one. The UK limit for full-auto replicas is 1.3 J, about 374 fps with 0.20 g. Germany allows free sale up to 0.5 J and F-marked replicas above that for adults; France sets 2 J; Italy 1 J with a red tip; the Netherlands requires NABV membership.
