Airsoft Suppressors & Tracer Units

A suppressor on an airsoft gun is about looks, barrel length and a softer report; a tracer unit is about lighting up the night. Both screw onto a 14 mm thread.

What a suppressor does on an airsoft gun

An airsoft suppressor, also sold as a silencer or mock silencer, is a foam-lined tube that takes some of the crack out of an AEG and makes a gas blowback pistol noticeably quieter. More usefully, it hides a longer inner barrel extended past the outer barrel, which is the classic way to add range to a short carbine. Lengths run from 100 mm pistol cans to 250 mm rifle tubes; the length filter shows what fits your build. Flash hiders are purely cosmetic and give you a muzzle device without the extra length.

Tracer units

A tracer unit is a suppressor with a ring of UV LEDs inside; every tracer BB that passes through charges and glows for its whole flight, so you see your shots at night and so does everyone else. Units are powered by a built-in battery and switch on with a tap or a sensor. Load tracer BBs in the magazine, or mix them in with standard BBs for a tracer every few shots. Pistol-sized units fit under a slide; rifle units need a free-floating barrel or a rail-mounted model.

Threads and adapters

Most AEGs and GBB rifles use a 14 mm counter-clockwise (CCW) thread, many gas pistols use 14 mm clockwise (CW) or 11 mm CW, and a thread adapter bridges them. Use the thread filter and check the product notes, since some outer barrels on externals hide the thread under a cap. Suppressors and tracers are unrestricted.
